Rroma dancer, signer and actress, Simona Jovic, has Serbian and Czech origins, and she grew up in the Former Yugoslavia. During her childhood, she was surrounded by Rromany culture, and very young she started travelling in order to meet Rroma people from all around the world. That's how she specialized herself in music and dances of the Rroma. She protects the underestimated and fragile rroma traditions, fights for their recognition and the maintenance of their authenticity and collaborates worldwide with the rroma organizations.

Accompanied by all kind of very talented Rroma Artists, mostly living modestly in their countries, she dances on the stages all around the world and present the authentic culture of a people who deserves to be better known. She especially performs with the Demiran Cerimovic orchestra from Serbia, winners of the Guca festival 2002, 2006 and 2007.

Wherever she displays her work, in her shows, in her seminars or in her workshops, she presents it in a historical context. She points the necessity of showing the origins of Rromany music and dance, from Rajasthan in India,to Andalusia in Spain, via different territories like Egypt, Turkey, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. For her work, Simona Jovic uses the long personnal research on rroma history and culture, but most of all her own experiences beside Rroma. Every year she shares it with anyone who shows the sincere interest of learning more about this people, by organising Music and Dance Tours, in which she takes them to the heart of the Rroma life.

Simona Jovic is president of the Humanitarian and Cultural Organization "Rroma of the world" which helps Rroma from all around the world, especially the Rroma artists, giving them the opportunity to present their talents to the world and giving the world the opportunity to discover the authentic rromani traditions.
